ONCE UPON A TIME
ONCE UPON A TIME
From Catalonia to the World: A Life in Music
Without realizing it, thanks to a piano and guitar I found at home, I began creating melodies. These melodies invited me to imagine stories and songs. At the age of 12, I started on a path that has never stopped. Growing up in a relatively small town of 12,000 inhabitants, with a large theater of two halls and a strong passion for theater, it was easy to get involved in various performing activities: theater, friendships, summer nights, and the local radio. This combination led me to participate in the most prominent contest of Catalan culture in the 90s. At 18, I won first prize in the singer-songwriter category. Six years later, I had already released two long plays and gained considerable recognition in Catalonia. All my repertoire was in my mother tongue, Catalan.
Curiosity to write in Spanish led me to take a trip to Havana, Cuba. For two months, after immersing myself in the city's musical art, especially singer-songwriters, I returned to Barcelona with the intention of recording a Latin pop album in Spanish. However, this project eventually took me to Miami. In the United States, I worked with several music publishers aiming to 'place songs' with internationally famous artists. Although my goal had never been to write and compose for other artists, I was good at it. During that period, I earned one BMI Latin Award, a Number One Billboard Hot Latin Tracks, a Telemundo Composer of the Year Award, and a Latin Grammy Nomination. I lived between Miami and Los Angeles from 2001 to 2007. During these years in the United States, I invested everything I could in producing my songs.
In 2007, I returned to Barcelona with a developing musical project: pan-European music, A conceptual music project of songs to embrace diversity. For 12 years, I lived in different cities: Barcelona, El Bruc, Luxembourg, Perpignan, and Magdeburg. I worked as a teacher of singing and interpretation, guitar, and songwriting in various public schools and private music academies. I recorded a few more albums, composed soundtracks for documentaries and films, and created jingles for radio, companies and public institutions. Together with Daniel Thürler, Alex Miralles, and Alfred Mosimann, I founded a pan-European folk band. I sang acoustically always in all 4 languages I speak at different events in the cities where I lived and continued producing more songs.
In 2019, I returned to the United States after marrying my platonic love from Miami, whom I met in 2001. Recently, after collaborating with various writers and musicians in the Americana folk music genre, I adopted the persona of Barcelona Cowboy. Through this journey, I continue to pursue my long-standing dream of creating songs that uplift and promote diversity and peace.
